Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break
through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where
your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light
of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single,
thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be
evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore
the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is
that darkness! (Matthew 6:19-23).
You need to have a single eye, to become single-minded,
concerning the Word of God. You must accept God’s Word as
final authority. What it says, it means. When the Word says you
are healed, you are healed! It doesn’t matter what your body
says about it. If you will believe this and operate accordingly,
then the covenant you have with God—His Word—will become
the absolute truth in your situation, and your physical body
will come into agreement with the Word.
I first began to learn this in the area of finance and prosperity
when I went back to college. The idea of going back to
school really scared me! I was 30 years old with a wife, two
small children, and no idea how I would support them. There
were people who told me I was making a mistake, that my family
would go hungry, but I had accepted the call to the ministry
and was looking to the Lord to meet my needs. Many people
thought I was nuts! According to the world’s system, a man has
to be in sheer poverty while he is in college, but the Word
doesn’t say that. It doesn’t say, “God will meet your needs
according to His riches in glory just as soon as you get out of
college.” At that time I knew very little about operating by
faith, but I was doggedly determined to go through with it. God
took care of us. I never asked anybody for a quarter. We began
to learn how to operate by faith.
In Matthew 6:20, Jesus teaches us to “…lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth or rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal.” This is what
the Word says. However, with our religious heads we have read
it this way: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth…but
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth
nor rust doth corrupt…and where thou canst not touch it until
thou gettest to heaven.” We have added our own little idea, but
this is not what Jesus meant. He was saying, “If you will let
heaven be your treasury and your supply, then regardless of
what happens on earth, you will have a bank that is not subject
to theft or ruin.” What you have laid up then will be ready
when it is needed. Jesus was not referring to when we get to
heaven. He was teaching about God providing for us now. If you
will notice, He finished His sermon in Matthew 6 by saying that
your heavenly Father knows you need these things, but seek
first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these
other things will be added to you.

Kenneth Copeland — A Prayer for Health and Healing

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I confess Your Word concerning
healing. I believe and say that Your Word will not return to
You void, but will accomplish what it says it will. Therefore,
I believe in the Name of Jesus, that I am healed according
to 1 Peter 2:24. It is written in Your Word that Jesus Himself
took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses (Matthew 8:17).
Therefore, with great boldness and confidence, I say on the
authority of that written Word that I am redeemed from the
curse of sickness and I refuse to tolerate its symptoms.
Satan, I speak to you in the Name of Jesus and say that your
principalities, powers, master spirits who rule the present
darkness and your spiritual wickedness in heavenly places
are bound from operating against me in any way. I am loosed
from your assignment. I am the property of Almighty God
and give you no place in me. I dwell in the secret place of the
Most High God. I abide, remain stable and fixed, under the
shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand.
Now, Father, because I reverence and worship You, I
have the assurance of Your Word that the angel of the Lord
encamps around about me and delivers me from every evil
work. No evil shall befall me, no plague or calamity shall
come near my dwelling. I confess the Word of God abides
in me and delivers to me perfect soundness of mind and
wholeness in body and spirit from the deepest parts of my
nature in my immortal spirit, even to the joints and marrow
of my bones. That Word is medication and life to my flesh, for
the law of the Spirit of life operates in me and makes me free
from the law of sin and death.
I have on the whole armor of God. The shield of faith
protects me from all the fiery darts of the wicked. Jesus is the
High Priest of my confession, and I hold fast to my confession
of faith in God’s Word. I stand immovable and fixed
in full assurance that I have health and healing now in the
Name of Jesus.

Kenneth Copeland — Hey Everybody, Watch This

Because of that attitude, when a big obstacle arises in my life, the first thing I say is, “Well, it’s miracle time. It’s time to grow. It’s time to get in the Word of God.” I had to learn that early in my ministry because I faced some situations where a miracle was the only thing that was going to get me through.
I’ll never forget one particular time, just after my brother-in-law, Jules, was saved. He was a very successful lawyer and through Cathy’s and my witness, he had come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Of course, we’d
told him about the healing power and promises of God and as baby Christians usually do he just believed without question and said, “Wow! That’s great!”
I was getting ready to preach a meeting one night when my brother-in-law called me. He said a woman had come into his office who had been in an accident in the restaurant where she worked. She had been paralyzed as a result of it and wanted to sue the restaurant.
Jules said, “Well, lady, you have two choices. We can take the legal route and get you a lot of money…or you can go with me to my brother-in-law Jesse’s meeting tonight and get healed. Which do you want?” She said, “Well, I guess I’ll go to the meeting.”
So Jules called me and said, “Jesse, I’m bringing this paralyzed woman tonight and I’ve told her she’ll get healed. That’s right, isn’t it?” I assured him that was right and then after I hung up, I said, “God, what are we going to do?” You see, I had a problem because I had seen some people get healed and some not.
We’re at the Promised Land, Jess, God answered. Are we going to walk across or are we going to drag this paralyzed woman back to the desert and bury her?
That night I preached as long as I could. (I was hoping she might get tired and go home.) Finally, I couldn’t put it off any longer and I said, “All right, it’s time for God to heal.” When Jules brought the woman up front, I determined to pray for her as quietly as possible so as not to attract any attention. But Jules had other ideas.
“HEY, EVERYBODY!” He called out. “WATCH! GOD’S GOING TO HEAL THIS WOMAN. OK, Jesse, now do it.”
That woman was a candidate for a miracle and so was I! I tried to make things easier by closing my eyes while I prayed for her but the Lord said, Open your eyes. “No!” I answered. Open your eyes, Jesse!
So I opened my eyes, told the woman God was going to heal her and then prayed with every fiber of my being. All of sudden wham! both her hands went up in the air, she was knocked down by the power of the Holy Ghost, and was totally, miraculously healed!
You may think that’s an unusual incident. And, to some it might be. But you and I serve an unusual God, and we should expect the unusual to be “the usual” in our lives. Why? Because we are candidates for a miracle.
I want to burn that phrase into your mind. I want it to so mark your thinking that any time you have trouble from now on, instead of slipping automatically into despair, you’ll follow the instructions God gave to Joshua. You’ll get into the Word of God and not turn from it to the left or to the right. You’ll go to bed reading it. You’ll get up reading it. You’ll meditate on it until you digest all the nutrients in it and it fills you with the power of God.
You’ll say boldly, “No, I’m not giving up, praise God. I’m going on. I’m stepping into the Promised Land because I’m a candidate for a miracle!”
