before him: God is a refuge for us.

AMP—He only is my Rock and my Salvation;
He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not
be moved. With God rests my salvation and
my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength

in God! Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have
confidence in Him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts before Him. God is a
refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower).

Moffatt—Rock, rescue, refuge, he is all to me,
never shall I be overthrown. My safety and my
honour rest on God; God is my strong rock and
refuge. Always rely on him, my followers, pour
out your prayers to him; God is a refuge for us.

NIV—He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My
salvation and my honor depend on God; he is
my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all
times, O people; pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

Psalm 71:7
KJV—I am as a wonder unto many; but thou
art my strong refuge.

NKJV—I have become as a wonder to many,
but You are my strong refuge.

AMP—I am as a wonder and surprise to many,
but You are my strong refuge.

NAS—I have become a marvel to many, for
You are my strong refuge.

Psalm 31:19-20
KJV—How great is thy goodness, which thou
hast laid up for them that fear thee; which
thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee
before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them
in the secret of thy presence from the pride
of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a
pavilion from the strife of tongues.

AMP—How great is Your goodness, which
You have laid up for those who fear, revere,
and worship You, goodness which You have
wrought for those who trust and take refuge
in You before the sons of men! In the secret
place of Your presence You hide them from
the plots of men; You keep them secretly in
Your pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Moffatt—What wealth of kindness thou hast
laid up for thy worshippers, and shown to
those who shelter with thyself! Thou hidest
them under thy wings from human plots, thou
shelterest them from the scourge of slander!

NIV—How great is your goodness, which you
have stored up for those who fear you, which
you bestow in the sight of men on those
who take refuge in you. In the shelter of your
presence you hide them from the intrigues
of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe
from accusing tongues.

Psalm 32:7
KJV—Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt
preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass
me about with songs of deliverance.

AMP—You are a hiding place for me; You,
Lord, preserve me from trouble; You surround
me with songs and shouts of deliverance.

Moffatt—Thou wilt be his shelter, safeguarding
him in peril, surrounding him with aid.

NIV—You are my hiding place; you will protect
me from trouble and surround me with songs
of deliverance.

Psalm 57:1
KJV—In the shadow of thy wings will I make
my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

AMP—In the shadow of Your wings will I take
refuge and be confident until calamities and
destructive storms are passed.

Moffatt—In the shadow of thy wings I shelter,
till the deadly danger passes.

NIV—I will take refuge in the shadow of your
wings until the disaster has passed.

gave (yielded) Himself up [to atone] for our
sins [and to save and sanctify us], in order
to rescue and deliver us from this present
wicked age and world order, in accordance
with the will and purpose and plan of our
God and Father.

Weymouth—Our Lord Jesus Christ…gave
Himself for our sins in order to rescue us from
the present wicked world in accordance with
the will of our God and Father.

NIV—The Lord Jesus Christ…gave himself for
our sins to rescue us from the present evil age,

Job 1:9-10
KJV—Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth
Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made
an hedge about him, and about his house, and
about all that he hath on every side? thou
hast blessed the work of his hands, and his
substance is increased in the land.

AMP—Satan answered the Lord, Does Job
[reverently] fear God for nothing? Have You
not put a hedge about him and his house
and all that he has, on every side? You have
conferred prosperity and happiness upon him
in the work of his hands, and his possessions
have increased in the land.

Moffatt—The Adversary answered, “But is it for
nothing that Eyob reverences God? Have you
not hedged him safely in, his house and all he
has? You have prospered him in his business,
and his flocks are teeming on the land.”

NIV—“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan
replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him
and his household and everything he has? You
have blessed the work of his hands, so that
his flocks and herds are spread throughout
the land.”

Psalm 17:6, 8-9
KJV—O God…keep me as the apple of the eye,
hide me under the shadow of thy wings, from
the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly
enemies, who compass me about.

AMP—O God…Keep and guard me as the
pupil of Your eye; hide me in the shadow
of Your wings from the wicked who despoil
and oppress me, my deadly adversaries who
surround me.

Moffatt—O God…guard us as thine own eye,
hide us under the shadow of thy wings, from
the ungodly who would harry us, the eager
enemies that encircle us.

NIV—O God…Keep me as the apple of your
eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from
the wicked who assail me, from my mortal
enemies who surround me.

Psalm 27:5
KJV—In the time of trouble he shall hide me in
his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall

AMP—In the day of trouble He will hide me in
His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will
He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

Moffatt—He hides me within his own pavilion
on the day of trouble, he shelters me within
his shrine, he sets me safe upon a rock.

NIV—In the day of trouble he will keep me safe
in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of
his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
